Education
I am a University of Florida graduate with a B.S. in Public Relations (2006). I worked in non-profit for several years, as well as odd jobs and volunteering with children's groups. Then I decided it was time for a switch and applied to work at a preschool. I earned the required DCF hours then went on to complete the Florida Child Care Professional Credential (2014). This credential (CDA equivalent) qualifies me to work as lead teacher of a VPK classroom. I am also CPR/First Aid certified and complete continuing education hours in early childhood education each year.
Experience
I am currently a teacher in a Kindergarten through 2nd Grade mixed age classroom, and I previous worked as a lead VPK teacher for three years. I love developing learning activities that fit the interests and learning styles of my students. My least favorite approach to learning is worksheets and flashcards (unless a child thrives using them). I prefer to use hands-on, play-based activities for younger ages, and child-specific approaches to learning. Our school is out for Summer, so I am eager to continue doing what I love (teaching/tutoring) so that the children I work with will enter their next school year with a love for learning!

Hobbies
I have a one-year-old son who has joined me in the classroom during the school year and may be present during some tutoring sessions. He loves learning with the big kids and makes a great reading buddy! We enjoy getting dirty outside, going for walks, and taking photos. I am a photographer in my free time, love arts & crafts, and enjoy music.
