Experience
I am a professional LSAT tutor. I have experience teaching the LSAT both as a course to multiple students and to individual students in the form of one-on-one private tutoring. I spent 10 months of my life preparing for the LSAT. I worked through multiple prep books and every single PrepTest (old LSATs) multiple times. And on test day, I scored a 175 (two points better than the median LSAT score at Harvard Law). The Law School Admission Test (LSAT) is a standardized exam used by law schools to help judge the worthiness of applicants. Put more simply, the LSAT is an aptitude test that schools will use to determine whether or not you are mentally capable of successfully studying law. It is widely viewed as a sort of law school entrance exam because of the strong correlation between high LSAT scores and acceptance into the top law schools. For this reason, it is important for test-takers to earn the best score possible; a good LSAT score is a vital part of any law school application. The LSAT is composed of six 35 minute sections, including an analytical reasoning section, two logical reasoning sections, a reading comprehension section, a writing prompt, and an unscored experimental section (which can test analytical reasoning, logical reasoning, or reading comprehension). Unlike most standardized tests, the LSAT does not test knowledge; rather, it tests critical thinking and reading skills. In other words, all the information you need to correctly answer each question on the LSAT can be found in the test itself. Your task is not to remember pieces of information but to solve a series of complicated puzzles. I teach all sections of the LSAT. My teaching methods involve a lot of unique practice problems (all of which I provide free of charge). I have written my own curricula specifically designed to help beginners master introductory concepts, and I have written advanced materials to help top students push themselves even harder. I also love to work with official PrepTests; I am very familiar with all of LSAC’s published materials. I know how to explain difficult concepts in understandable ways. I believe that it’s the tutor’s job to make the material easy to grasp. If a student does not understand a concept after I explain it, I’ll try again with a different approach. I love puzzles, and I have actually written LSAT-style logic games for fun in the past. I am the author of a Sudoku puzzle book. I also believe that learning difficult material can be fun. This is especially true with the LSAT. I love it when I have students tell me that they are starting to enjoy logic games. I love to write, and I am happy to help students with their LSAT writing samples. I have written or presented research on theology, textual criticism, American history, macroeconomics, management philosophies, and epistemology. I have also published an award-winning short story. These qualifications also help me teach LSAT reading comprehension.

I have directed a church choir, penned song lyrics, and improvised blues solos. For two years I played trumpet in a folk rock band. I have worked as a credit card representative, a search engine evaluator, and a grocery store clerk. I produced a mini-documentary on a fringe apocalyptic sect; I own and manage a small e-publishing business. I am the happy husband of the most enchanting woman I have ever seen and a proud father.
