Experience
It has always been my belief that in order to enjoy tutoring and teaching, one must appreciate the value of learning and sharing the ideas we learn. For as long as I can remember, I have always enjoyed asking questions, working out problems, testing myself, and helping students around me do the same in order to achieve a higher understanding. I have enjoyed my experience as a tutor because I cherish the opportunity of communicating learned knowledge and skills to someone else, someone capable of both enjoying the material and making it useful to their life. I tutor because it is truly a privilege to serve my students and my community one lesson at a time! Spanish Experience: As a student here in the U.S. I have participated in numerous educational benchmarking programs such as the AP Spanish Language and Culture Exam (receiving a 5 out of 5), the Florida State Spanish Conference (competing on the Native Level), and the CLEP Exam (receiving a 78 out of 80). In addition, I have more than 4 years of experience tutoring students in Spanish and more than a years worth of experience living in Latin America with Rotary Youth Exchange. As a student at the University of Florida majoring in Spanish Language and maintaining a 3.9 GPA I am currently enrolled in upper level undergraduate classes (3500 and higher) and plan on obtaining both a Masters Degree and a PhD in Spanish Language later in my career. I understand the workings of the language because of my background as a native English speaker and pay particular detail to differences I know confuse most students of the language. Anthropology Experience: As an Anthropology Major at UF I have received no less than an A in my completed undergraduate work up to this point. Anthropology is a particular passion of mine and for that reason I am constantly attempting to keep up on evolving social theories inside the two fields I would potentially specialize in. I am also intermediately fluent in Norwegian and attended the International Summer School at the University of Oslo during the summer of 2017. I received A's for all of my coursework and went on to be the presiding president for the 70th Student Parliament of the program. Finally, I have worked for Rotary International as a committee member for District 6970 and have helped in the recruitment, interviewing, counseling, and training of more than 250 students over that span of time.
